In this chapter there is a statement from Christ which tells us who we are.
You are my friends. I no longer call you servants. The servant does not know what his master is about. I call you friends, because everything I have from the Father, I have revealed to you.
We all recognize that we have a calling. Some have a calling to be a priest; some have one to be a father or mother, a teacher or a nurse. But, we must realize that these are secondary callings. There is a calling much more basic, and much more important. I am called to be a “Friend,” Jesus’ friend. He wants to hold nothing back from me, to give me all He has. You have this same basic call. It is incredible! Before we became anything, God wanted us to belong, to be His little child, His loved ones. Early Christians called this the “Good News.” Indeed!
What a joy! At times I get to take a break from running the World, and just let Him do it. I can settle back and just be His little boy, ignorant, out of control, helpless, trusting, and loving. We are going to do this for all eternity. The process can start today.
