Benefits of a Church Group Retreat

Path

A retreat is a time to slow down, to be still, to reflect, to restore your spirit --a time that allows you to encounter your deepest needs, feelings, values, and impulses away from the voices and needs of others. You may choose to read, write, reconnect with nature, listen to music, or simply be. You do not have to fit any role in a retreat. In fact, the opposite is true. You just need to be yourself. You decide what will restore and renew you. The goal is to throw away the "to do" list and "shoulds" and embrace the peace and solitude. Remember--this is a gift to yourself.

Types of Retreats
The type of retreat you choose will depend on the time you have and the amount of structure you want. You can select a directed, private, at-home, or program retreat.

Directed Retreat: You meet with a spiritual director daily. An atmosphere of peaceful quiet allows you to enter into a sustained silence in order to pray more deeply, listen more carefully, and respond more fully to the Spirit's movement within. The sisters of The Congregation of St. Joseph invite you to join them in one of their directed retreats held throughout the summer. Upcoming retreats.

Private Retreat: Create your own retreat experience. The resources of our facility are at your disposal: libraries, prayer rooms, spiritual direction, Unity Chapel, gazebo, and walking trails.

Program Retreat: Plan to come at a time when a spiritual program of your choice is scheduled at Transformations. The program then becomes a part of your directed or private retreat. Please call ahead to confirm room availability.

At-Home Retreat: This retreat experience, based on the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius, can be done in the comfort of your own home and in the context of your everyday life. Although adapted to your own pace, the retreat usually spans a period of six to eight months in which you meet with a retreat director at least twice monthly and set aside a daily prayer time. 12-Step Retreat: Transformations offers two ways to deepen your 12-Step recovery work. Periodic mini-retreats, or full weekend retreats. Click here to read descriptions of both types.

Planned Retreat: Each semester, Transformations takes all the retreat planning worries away by organizing a variety of spiritually topical retreats, such as Beyond Words: An Icon Painting Retreat with Diane Hamel; Yoga and Centering Prayer Retreat with Nancy Diment and Betsy Meagher, CSJ.; or Living From Within: The Journey Toward the Undivided Life with Marianne Novak Houston. All the details, from food to materials to accommodations, are arranged ahead of time for you so that you may come prepared to enjoy your Transformations retreat. Please review our programs page or our catalog for more details about these and other Planned Retreats.
