Begins!
The communities in which we live and work need more than a bit of improvement. Agree? Here's something for you!
Peter Block, noted author and consultant, says that the job of a leader is to initiate a future distinct from the past. The context must be shifted to focus on possibility, generosity, and gifts rather than problem solving, fear and retribution. He stresses that we already have all we need for an alternative future, except the human systems formed by conversations that build relatedness.
Creating the Structure of Belonging
You are invited to come and take part in a new conversation led by Peter Block on March 13. You will not be asked to negotiate, problem solve or yield on your commitments or interests. Instead you'll be asked to explore new ways to think, engage and lead. More information and registration

Transforming Leadership Series
Then you may decide to go a bit deeper, and apply to participate in the subsequent three parts of the Transforming Leadership series. The series will provide an opportunity to work with local community leadership experts to explore and grow both personally and professionally. More information and registration

Zinta Aistars - Art Gallery
Be sure to see Zinta's work during your next visit to Transformations. It is on display in the Art Gallery through the end of January. The Art Gallery is located in the ground floor Center Walk outside the Day, Merton and Romero conference rooms.

Zinta Aistars is a bilingual writer and editor with three books published in the Latvian language. She is the founder and editor-in-chief of an online literary magazine called, The Smoking Poet. It is her father, Viestarts Aistars, she says, that is the painter in the family. Yet Zinta grew up around her father's paintings-watercolors, oils, portraits and landscapes-and considers the highest compliment she has received for her work in literature that she "paints with words."
And still, now and then, she finds herself with a paintbrush in hand rather than on a keyboard. For years, she brought stones home from her travels, mostly from the shores of Lake Superior and the Baltic Sea along the coastline of Latvia. The smooth surface of stones tumbled by the waves drew her interest, and she began painting stones-flora and fauna, animals and insects, even tiny landscapes.
Another form of her art combines her love for words with her love for visual art in broadsides. Broadsides are short pieces of writing, either poetry or prose, decorated with visual art.
Learn more about Zinta and her work in both art and literature at www.zintaaistars.com.
